It is of great concern when a bank keeps closing accounts that are in good standing and don't care about it. Just think of what it's doing to their brand. Nothing spreads more than negative news and a bank being on uncertain grounds is not news you'd want.
Trashing your brand as a good place to bank is not one of the things you should do during this economic meltdown.
Several people have now mentioned to me that their Washington Mutual business credit accounts have been shut down even though t…

We all witnessed the fall of the stock market when the bailout wasn't accepted on Monday. Later, when the Asian markets opened, they fell too. The economic bailout plan is not to save wealthy Wall Street but it is the integrity of the American dollar and the world wide markets.
Before this huge mess American dollars were the most coveted money where everything seemed like it was based on it. Now, it is a sad shadow of what it once was.
The economic bailout is not for a select group but the who…

Tropical storm Gustav doesn't seem as much a threat as was feared earlier this week. The markets took it well even as Gustav inched closer to hitting the Gulf and American shores. There have apparently been vast improvements in the oil rigs to handle a beating much more than 2005 and tropical storm Katrina.
Gas prices haven't risen. The price of oil has actually decreased significantly (gas is now under $4) since the oil lords discovered that Americans are just using less oil. Huh... they reall…

Who hasn't heard about how bad the economy sucks. Well now even Vegas where nothing ever hurt it is feeling the pain. A major casino just slashed 40,000 jobs. Let's see their real estate market CRASHED!!! Now their jobs are being slashed.
Why didn't it hurt before for Vegas when everyone else was hurting? The local economy is no longer mostly gaming related. There are now regular jobs not casino related that take up a higher proportion of their economy so now Vegas suffers like every where else…

The economic downturn and rising prices is causing more and more people to stop spending. They are taking their money to pay off debts or increase their savings which further stumps any kind of economic recovery. This is according to a study by Reuters and the University of Michigan.
However, looking at these gas prices and the higher prices for everything...who can save? The worsening job market, banks reluctance to lend and ridiculous oil prices is causing consumer sentiment to be nothing ros…

Everyone wants to age gracefully and as a work from home Mom, having time for myself can be mere minutes. My routine "me time" things went out the window like working out 5-7 times a week, cleansing my face and really watching what I consume.
Now that the fire is letting up a bit as my children get older my face shows the signs of abuse. I haven't cleansed, moisturized, toned etc... my face in a long time. I looked up consumer reviews on the best anti-aging face creams and an inexpensive one ca…

Time just flies by. I get up in a blur and go to sleep in the wee hours of the morning and yet my to do list gets longer and longer. What I've discovered is that it doesn't make a difference whether I stress out big time or just let the little things go. When I allowed stress to command my days and my deadlines drive me bananas, I kept getting sick and i think I aged 20 years.
When I finally made the revelation that being stressed did not equal more quality output things have gotten better. Eve…

It's always easier to ignore the hard things in life. We have already begrudgingly gotten used to gas prices that are over $4 a gallon and normal families losing their homes to foreclosure. Whenever a big event like a big bank goes down then it makes us notice once again that the economy is still really hurting.
IndyMac once one of the largest lenders in America was taken over by federal regulators. This thrift bank grew big during the recent real estate boom and specialized in Alt-A no doc or…

As the mortgage crisis continues and more homes are falling into foreclosure, banks are looking at alternate ways to make money. Since the interest rates for home loans are so low and they are getting scrutinized under a microscope, banks are now turning to credit cards as a source of making big income.
As more Americans are financially squeezed and turn to their credit cards to pay their bills, the credit card companies are sending out more offers to do balance transfers with a minimum 3% fee…
